The Scorpius constellation is tied to the Greek myth of the legendary hunter Orion. According to the myth, Orion boasted that he could kill every animal on Earth, angering Gaia, who sent a giant scorpion to defeat him. In other versions, the god Apollo, jealous of Orion’s closeness to the goddess Artemis, tricked her into killing him, while in some accounts Artemis kills him herself to protect her chastity.
